Career history
Maureen McAllister has over 25 years' experience of strategic tourism marketing and development, working in the public and private sector; during this time, she has led the development and successful implementation of strategic and operational plans.
Maureen is dynamic, innovative and creative, she has excellent communication and presentation skills, and is a confident public speaker. In her career, Maureen has achieved some notable successes.
She was instrumental in the development of Partners for England, and the co-founder of DP:UK; a destination performance management organisation.
She has managed relocation, assimilation and change, with various teams. This has included Birmingham (from Council to Public/Private company); Torbay (joining tourism and economic development); South West Tourism (Co-locating South West Tourism with South West RDA, TUPE transfers and IIP).
She has led her teams to achieve various awards and standards – IIP (South West Tourism); Beacon status for Promoting Sustainable Tourism 2004 (Birmingham); England for Excellence – Destination of the Year Award (Gloucester); Resort of the Year 2004 (Torquay).
During her career, Maureen has developed and maintained critical partnerships, both with the public and private sector; she also benefits from wide and varied contacts and connections across the entire visitor economy. Maureen is a skilled team leader and manager, with a practical knowledge of personnel development and motivation; she is also an organised and efficient budget and project manager.
